Sivers Semiconductors AB has today completed the previously announced acquisition of MixComm to strengthen its position in 5G, SATCOM and Radar markets for current and future high frequency mmWave products.
MixComm today announced the appointment of Dr. Arun Natarajan as Vice President of RF Technology. Dr. Natarajan joins the leadership team that includes MixComm’s CEO, CTO and Co-Founder Dr. Harish Krishnaswamy and Co-Founder and VP of Engineering Frank Lane.
Arun Natarajan received the B.Tech. degree in electrical engineering from IIT Madras, Chennai, India, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA. His doctoral thesis demonstrated the first integrated phased-array transmitter at 24GHz in 2004 and the first integrated phased-array transceiver at 77GHz in SiGe BiCMOS in 2005.
Previously he was a Research Staff Member with the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, where he was involved in the architecture/design of integrated millimeter-wave multi-Gb/s phased array transmitters and receivers at 60GHz (jointly developed with MediaTek) as well as the first integrated scalable phased array transceivers at 94GHz (developed under the DARPA Silicon-based Phased Array Tiles program). In 2012, he joined the School of EECS at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, USA where he is currently an Associate Professor.
Dr. Natarajan has been recognized with multiple awards throughout his career. These include the California Institute of Technology Atwood Fellowship, the Analog Devices Outstanding Student IC Designer Award, the IBM Research Fellowship, and the Pat Goldberg Memorial Award for the Best Paper in computer science/electrical engineering/mathematics at IBM Research. He serves as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society, and on the Technical Program Committee of the IEEE Intl. Solid-State Circuits Conf. (ISSCC), IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Conference (RFIC) and as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (T-MTT).
“MixComm is excited to welcome Dr. Arun Natarajan to its leadership team. Dr. Natarajan is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of silicon-based millimeter-wave circuits and systems, having demonstrated several of the first millimeter-wave silicon beamforming transceivers”, said Dr. Harish Krishnaswamy, MixComm CEO, CTO and co-founder. “Dr. Natarajan will provide critical technical leadership in bringing MixComm’s technology to market for 5G applications.”
“I am excited to join the team at MixComm and translate exciting research breakthroughs to innovative products that transform 5G communication at millimeter-wave. MixComm’s team combines a great track record in industry products and university research and I look forward to working with them on leading the millimeter-wave revolution”, said Dr. Natarajan.
